Fondation SUEZ x Le Partenariat: an integrated package for access to water and sanitation in schools
Created in February 1981, following the twinning of Lille (France) and Saint-Louis (Senegal), the NGO Le Partenariat currently carries out programmes in three countries (Morocco, Guinea and Senegal - Matam and Saint-Louis regions) to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable.
In 2012, the association launched the PAEMS (programme for access to water in school) in Senegal, which aims to fight against school absenteeism and dropout rates due to poor hygiene conditions at school.
The creation of infrastructures: drinking water supply (drilling, network connection, or improved well) and construction or rehabilitation of latrines and fences.
The establishment of local monitoring committees, and support to the school management committees, parents’ associations, etc.
Awareness-raising actions for students and teachers on the topics of Water-Sanitation-Hygiene (WASH) and Environment Sustainable Development.

The goal is to have local partners adopt the programme thanks to the association’s guides and methodological tools, and duplicate it in new territories on a regional scale.
It is in this context that Fondation SUEZ supports the creation of integrated packages in 15 schools, thanks to financial support.
The PAEMS was selected among the exemplary initiatives presented at the 2022 World Water Forum in Dakar.
