Taking steps to protect and enhance biodiversity at our waste management sites in the UK
Over 300 biodiversity improvement actions were undertaken across our waste management sites in 2023 to protect and enhance biodiversity, including tree and hedgerow planting, or installing nesting boxes for birds, bats or owls.
In addition to these, biodiversity net gain feasibility assessments were completed across 29 of our restored landfill sites to identify where large-scale habitat creation can be established.
