SUEZ renews its corporate foundation for 3 years

The Board of Directors of the Fondation SUEZ has decided to support nine new projects. This decision strengthens the Fondation’s commitment to its two top priority action areas, access to essential services and social inclusion in France.

• Access to basic sanitation, water and menstrual hygiene project, to improve health and dignity in the Tambacounda region of Senegal – in partnership with the Gret, 15,000 persons covered.
• Improved hygiene and waste collection program in the Kaolack, Mbour and Tambacounda regions of Senegal – in partnership with Secours Catholique – Caritas France, 45,000 persons covered.
• Access to drinking water thanks to the rehabilitation of old and out-of-use pond sand filters and the improvement of sanitation in five coastal cities of Sundarbans, Bangladesh - in partnership with GK Savar, 56,400 persons covered.
• In France, support to 6 projects aiming to assist over 4,800 minors and young adults in priority areas, both urban and rural, and their families – in partnership with Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil, akesense, Proxité, Chemins d’avenirs, Passion Proximité Parcours/Like ton Job.

The Fondation SUEZ has also confirmed its commitment to ensure access to water in Ukraine and protect refugees in host countries through the fund “Emergency Ukraine” created by the Fondation last March. A project to support 30 refugee women, with the Ikambere association, was also supported by the Fondation SUEZ.

The Fondation’s Board of Directors welcomes four new directors, representing SUEZ, with knowledge or experience on international development issues, notably in emerging and developing countries:

• Wafaa Khalifi, Deputy CEO, SUEZ Maroc,
• Isabelle Maunoury, Operations Director for the Africa, Middle East and Central Asia BU,
• Silvina Somasco-Mozziconacci, International Financial Director,
• Frederick Jeske-Schoenhoven, Member of the Executive Committee, SVP Group Strategy, Communication & Sustainable development

Muriel Leroy was appointed Managing Director of the Foundation.

Created in 2011, the Fondation SUEZ supports actions in emerging countries to develop sustainable access to essential services (water, sanitation and waste) for underprivileged populations. In France, it contributes to projects promoting the inclusion of vulnerable people through employment and training but also social cohesion activities for youth in priority areas, both urban and rural. Since its creation, the Fondation SUEZ has improved the living conditions of over 6,6 million people by supporting partners, NGOs and associations, including Aquassistance which benefited more than 2 million inhabitants in terms of access to drinking water and 500,000 people in terms of access to sanitation in the least developed countries. The Fondation combines employees’ skills and know-how through the evaluation and monitoring of projects supported.
