SUEZ has signed a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire a majority stake in Gruppo Ecosistem, an independent company specialising in industrial waste processing and recovery. The acquisition strengthens SUEZ’s footprint in Italy and bolsters its position in these high-value-added services, in line with the strategic growth areas defined by the Group.

It provides hazardous and non-hazardous waste processing solutions in the regions of Calabria, Basilicate and Sicily, via its Ecosistem Srl and Econet Srl subsidiaries. Gruppo Ecosistem also operates in Lombardia and the Abbruzzi through equity participations. All the market segments in which Gruppo Ecosistem operates represent major growth opportunities, relating to the treatment of industrial effluents, energy recovery from waste and the remediation of polluted sites.
Gruppo Ecosistem’s founders will retain an equity stake in the business and will continue to support its development.
