The mission
In order to meet the growing needs of industrialists in the Kingdom of Morocco, SUEZ Morocco has been involved since 2019 in a project to build new recovery platforms in the free trade zones. The objective being to contribute to the ecological development of the zones and the companies installed as well as to promote the implementation of decarbonised and circular economy solutions.
Our answer
The SUEZ platform provides local services thanks to a cutting-edge industrial facility: high-performance cable recycling, storage, sorting, packaging and waste massification. With an annual capacity of 35,000 tonnes of waste, it covers an area of 24,000 m² and aims to achieve a recovery rate of 85%.
The investment amounts to €5.7 million and will create direct, indirect and operational jobs. Thanks to this platform, SUEZ will be able to respond to a major environmental problem for the Moroccan population.
In addition, a modern cable transformation unit installed in the platform will meet the needs of many equipment manufacturers in the region's ecosystem. Indeed, it will allow the crushing and separation of non-ferrous metals from plastics in order to access shorter channels and to set up a real circular economy. This unit will promote processing in the Moroccan territory and avoid 40% of raw cables being transported abroad.
